Please keep him in your prayers - this is pulled from Roberto's Newsletter - We send our blessings, love and positive energy to Roberto!!! He's been in the hospital since Friday due to a Stroke. We want to wish him a fast recovery because his family and friends want to see him back on the floor soon. His physical therapy sessions are slowly having a progress on Roberto. We all know that he will back stronger than ever because of his great spirit and personality. We love you Roberto!

High five to Damon D'Amico of D'Amico Dance Studio. His studio in Houston, Texas was just recognized as the top dance studio in the world for West Coast Swing. Damon is the proprietor and one of many instructors on staff.

Save the date, September 25th as Rhythm In Shoes will be celebrating their 10th year anniversary. Hosted by Phil LaMothe, there will be appetizers and a buffet dinner followed by desserts. There will be dancing until 8:00PM. "Ten years is a wonderful milestone for the studio and I am hoping that all of you will join us including our old friends say hi and help us celebrate". The cost of the day will be $20 per person.
The finals are coming on 'America's Got Talent'. One of the top 10 hopefuls is the much deserved dance team, Miami All Stars. This troop incorporates Salsa, ballroom, hip hop along with marvelous tricks and stage presence. They deserve your vote. Tune in on Tuesday night.

Dance Trivia
Rufus Dustin won the US open Professional Theatrical title along with Donna Van Camp for the first time in 1975 then returned with new partner Marianne Nicole in 1979 to once again capture the title. They were so good they did it again in 1980. Rufus also held the US Professional American Style title along with Donna Van Camp from 1974 to 1975.
The first motion picture to display the hustle dance was "Roseland" (1977), starring a young Christopher Walken and a spectacular dance couple Floyd Chisholm and Annette Rivera. Dressed in tails Floyd won the dance contest and received national fame as he would go on to win the TGIF dance contest on the Merv Griffin show along with new partner Nelly Cotto.
Gary and Diana McDonald hold the record for the Unites States Ten Dance (competing in all ten styles) winning for nine consecutive years. Quite a task. But, in the US Professional American Style Rhythm division, Bob Powers and Julia Gorchakova were undefeated and held the title from 1993 until 2004, eleven consecutive years.
At the age of 6, Shirley Temple signed a contract with Fox staring in the film "Stand Up and Cheer", the year was 1934. This became her breakthrough film. She could act, sing and dance. She became the symbol of wholesome family entertainment. Her salary was $1,250 a week.
Dance Champion Corky Ballas lit up "Dancing With The Stars" but his list of achievements go way beyond. A multi champion in Ballroom and theater arts Corky (father of Mark Ballas) is also the proprietor of a Hilton Hotel franchise and an airline.
Almost 20 years after representing New York City on the nationally televised show "Dance Fever", Billy Fajardo would team up with Katie Marlow to compete in one of the most prestigious comps in the US. They won in 2002 the United States Open Professional Cabaret title.
One of the most popular ballroom dances today is still the Fox Trot. Although the dance is quite smooth, the "trot" part doesn't best explain it. The "Fox" part of the name came from a popular performer, in 1913, by the name of Harry Fox.
