His passion and love for the dance was unmistakable. He was a special individual that touched so many of us. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to know him and work with him". Lisa Nunziella Eddie and Lisa were undefeated on the syndicated television show "Star Search" Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtViG8B_sYM&feature=fvwrel

The International Hustle and Salsa Competition
It's only three weeks out till the 12th Annual International Hustle & Salsa Competition. One of the most popular events has moved to another one of the top vacation destinations in the world: Orlando, Florida. A new venture as the 12th annual IHSC takes place March 31 - April 3, 2011. This year's event promises to be even bigger and better than ever, with its new location - The Orlando Marriott World Center Resort.
World dance champions Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow invite you be part of this new journey. One of the original hustle dance pioneers, Billy created the original Disco Dance Dimensions dance troop that toured the world and were featured weekly on televisions 'Don Kirshners Rock Concert'. The dance company featured Eddie Vega, Lourdes Jones, Hector Berrios, Jackie Cruz, Sandra Rivera, Luis Rivera, Debbie Ferro, Franc. ' Perico' Reyes, Alma Pagon, Victorio, Francine Gonzalez. Billy & Katie have gone on to five dynamic channels - teaching, performing, competing, adjudicators and organizing numerous events, which takes them internationally as well. With years of hands-on experience in the world of dance they have ratcheted up their event to create the most unique partner dance event in the world. The IHSC is a non-stop multi dance festival offers four full days and nights of Workshops, Competitions, Performances and Social Dancing. The incomparable Saturday Night Gala is not to be missed, as is the daily pool party, which in 2011 will take place adjacent to the 1,000,000 gallon plus tropical pool complex at the resort.
The IHSC is an IHDA sanctioned event, giving Hustle dance competitors the opportunity to score points toward overall status and prizes. The World Open Hustle Championship is considered by many to be the most respected title in the Hustle circuit. Last year's competition didn't disappoint, and the 2011 open is promising to be just as amazing. In addition to the full roster of competitions in Hustle, Salsa and West Coast Swing, Ballroom aficionados will have the opportunity to compete in the Pro-Am and Amateur Starlight Rhythms Competition, this year taking place on Saturday.
With three dedicated ballrooms - one each for Hustle, Salsa and West Coast Swing dancers can choose to dance to their hearts content in one style, or move from room to room and experience all three. All three rooms are "dance till you drop" on Friday and Saturday nights, with Triple Threat parties to mix and mingle on Thursday and Sunday nights. Want more? Like golf? Stay and play in the first annual IHSC Golf Tournament on Monday morning.
And if that's not enough - the IHSC is a 5-minute ride to the most famous theme park on the planet: Walt Disney World! With the fabulous negotiated hotel rate of $119 per night (yep, really!), event attendees can stay and play. That means Disney World, Epcot, MGM, SeaWorld, and Universal are just minutes from the hotel. And for all the shoppers, the Orlando Premium Outlet Center and the Florida Mall are just a few minutes away.
For more information and updates, check the IHSC website at www.hustleandsalsa.com or call organizers Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow at 954-358-0168.

Letters to the Editor
(our goal is to post readers letters twice a month, unfortunately due to space limitations we cannot publish them all)
Hey Ron,
How are you? I wanted to stop by and give you an update and to ask you to thank all my dance friends who reached out to me and prayed for me during my surgery and recovery. It has been just about 2 months and I am feeling terrific. I have a "new" leg and am finally, after so many years, pain free. I had the best surgeon at the best hospital who worked a miracle with me. I was on my feet the same day of surgery and walking without a cane within 4 weeks. Thank you so much for all your prayers and concerns as well. I will be back on the dance floor next week!
Love to all....JoJo

Hey Ron,
It's Fun! It's (relatively) simple to learn. And it's here on Long Island!* (*Yes. Queens in on Long Island.)
Thanks to Joyce Szili and Erica Smith, Hustle is the latest dance to join the flash mob craze. They are planning on premiering the very first Hustle Flashmob, sometime in the next few weeks, in the Washington, DC area. I'm sure scores of people will be learning it and rehearsing it at this weekend's MadJam. So what do we do for all those people who can't travel to DC to participate? I know ALOT of New Yorkers/Long Islanders and those close by in Jersey and Connecticut, would LOVE to do their own local Flashmob. Bobbi Petri and I have already started teaching Joyce and Erica's choreography and been rehearsing small groups to get ready to showcase the routine at a few local events. Hopefully it will build a groundswell of enthusiasm. (The choreography has been graciously posted on the Internet by Erica, so you certainly don't have to come and learn it from us. If you have trouble learning from a video, however, we'd be more than happy to help you learn the routine. And even if you choose to learn it on your own, or somewhere else, why not stop by for a few rehearsals so we get a feel for how many couples are interested in participating, and really polish it up. Remember, practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect! But the fun is, as long as everyone is doing the patterns together at the same time, beginners can have as much fun as the "Top Dogs." No judgments!) If you interested in learning and/or rehearsing, or even just participating in an actual flash-mob with us, email me, Doug Hagwood at DHDanceTeacher@aol.com. Once Joyce and Erica have premiered it, we like to start hitting some Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn malls, public spaces, street fairs, beaches, parks, whatever. Let's get this up and running. Soon. We need the world to see that our dance is not the ridiculous nonsense that reality TV (thanks for nothing Dancing with the Stars) makes it out to be. And we need to change the perception that "Disco" (you too, So You Think You Can Dance) isn't Hustle as well. We've been asking for years how do we expose our dance to new people. Thanks to Joyce and Erica, and the people who originated the FlashMob concept, this is our moment. Let's take full advantage. And remember it's ALL about our dance, not our egos.
Doug

Hi Ron,
I wanted to mention that I really appreciate when you list the top new dance songs. I enjoy the entire newsletter but love to know what new songs are being played on the air and in night clubs. I live in Braintree, which is right outside of Boston, and there are literally no radio stations (that come in clear) that play the current music. With the down turn of the economy I know longer subscribe to satellite radio. Now, I'm able to down load and use ITunes to hear some of this dance music that I have loved since the early days of disco, Thanks again, Steve Mason
