Carl Charles - Hustle / Disco WCS + Salsa

Carl Charles -
by Ron Bess

An original member of the Long Island Bad Boys, a popular group of dancers that got the party started, Carl Charles has a unique and irrepressible dance style. He takes traditional Hustle and adds a twist of jazz, funk, interpretation, styling, and dramatization for a show-stopping effect. Using his business savvy and willingness to take a risk, Carl moved from New York City and created his own niche in sunny Florida. Over the years he has studied and continued to add more dance styles to his repertoire. He now teaches Hustle, hip hop, salsa, and all the ballroom dances. Star Ballroom of Pompano Beach was quick to add Carl to its staff, as did the Paladium Night Club in Margate, the premier night club in Florida for hustle dancing. Carl has developed a strong following in Florida and has built his class size over the last two years using a unique three-tier teaching schedule to keep students of all levels engaged and excited about dancing. Students have traveled from as far away as Miami, Orlando, and Tampa to attend his weekly classes and study with him privately. With his irresistibly energetic style, Carl has excelled at teaching children, teenagers, and, most recently, seniors. He is a beloved presence at the Lauderdale Lakes Community Center, and has taught at the Academy for Positive Learning in Lake Worth and the John Roberts Powers (JRP) school for actors and models in West Palm Beach. Carl has also contributed to the South Florida community by teaching and performing at charity events, including the black-tie Gala for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. He continues to perform at public and private events and prepares dancers for the pro-am divisions held at competitions all over the country.
